DESCRIPTION Shoulder height 17-18 inches (43-46 cm). Weight 25-30 pounds (11-14 kg).

The smallest bush duiker, with the smallest horns and relatively small ears. The general color is gray with a yellowish or yellowish orange tinge, faintly speckled with black or brown. The dark nose stripe extends to the forehead.

DISTRIBUTION Bush and savanna woodland from Senegal eastward through West Africa to southern Chad, the Central African Republic, and the northern edge of Congo adjacent to the C.A.R., and in SW. Sudan, W. Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.

TAXONOMIC NOTES Includes campbelliae (possibly Sierra Leone to Nigeria), coronata (Senegal, the Gambia and eastward), and pallidior (eastern Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, the C.A.R. and northern Congo [K]), with campbelliae the only sub-species recognized in the Handbook of the Mammals of the World, Wilson, D.E. & Mittermeier, R.A. eds. (2011).
